Childhood Obesity

Children who are above a healthy weight are more likely to have poorer health and wellbeing compared to children of a healthy weight. These children are also likely to carry excess weight in to adulthood, placing them at increased risk of developing chronic disease in later life.

The NSW Premier has set a target to reduce childhood obesity rates by five per cent by 2025.

Healthy Communities Mid North Coast is committed to intensifying efforts to reduce childhood overweight and obesity in our region, as health is everyone’s business and a strong whole-of-Government approach is needed to achieve the NSW Premier’s target.
